The UNIQA Group domestic companies to be consolidated - the UNIQA Personen- and the UNIQA Sachversicherung, the Raiffeisen Versicherung, the Salzburger Landes- as well as the Call Direct Versicherung - increased the premiums earned from direct business (excluding Single premiums and the service business with Germany) in 2001 by 4.9% to 1,919.6 million euro. The MLP Lebensversicherung, predominantly operating through the UNIQA Group distribution - specialising in unit-linked life assurance - increased earned premiums (excluding single premiums) by 8% to 104.2 million euro. The total premiums earned by the UNIQA Group foreign companies (incl. Polonia) increased to 253.7 million euro (+ 15.6%).
The mentioned domestic Group companies paid benefits amounting to 1,664.4 million euro (+4.7%) to, respectively for, their customers in 2001. The non-consolidated capital investments of the domestic Group companies amounted to 11.3 billion euro (+6.3%) on the last day of the financial year. The earned current investment income was 657.1 million euro (+5.1%) in 2001).
The domestic insurance companies were able to successfully reduce their total administrative costs (excluding social capital) in 2001within the scope of the "cost reduction programme" by 5.4%.
A few days ago, the shares of the UNIQA Versicherungen AG were admitted as "Large Cap" in the FTSE World Index - a further pleasing international recognition for the UNIQA share.
