According to the preliminary data, the results of the UNIQA Group for the past year will show IFRS pre-tax results of EUR 235 million. This corresponds to an increase of almost 23.5% compared to the year 2005 (EUR 190.3 million). For the fourth time in a row, the Management Board will propose an increase in dividends to the Supervisory Board and the Annual General Meeting for 2006.
For the first time in the history of the UNIQA Group premium volume written (incl. the savings portion from the unit-linked life insurance) - according to the preliminary data for the financial year 2006 - will, at about EUR 5,050 million (+6.8%), surpass the EUR 5 billion border. The Austrian companies contributed EUR 3,419 million (+1.0%) to these results. The group companies outside of Austria increased their premium volume by 21.3% to about EUR 1,631 million, which means they already contribute a 32% share (2005: 28%) of total premium volume.
In life insurance, premiums written rose by about 8.5% to EUR 2,117 million. The companies outside of Austria are also contributing a clear growth impulse in life insurance. They were able to increase their premium volume by 41.1% to the present EUR 639 million. In Austria, premiums sank by about 1.4% to EUR 1,478 million due to high expirations in the area of bank sales and a further reduction in lump-sum payments. The foreign portion in life insurance reached about 30%.
The preliminary premium volume written in property and casualty insurance is, at EUR 2,045 million, about 5.8% above last year's figures. Outside of Austria the growth in this segment is 9.6% and premiums reached EUR 811 million. Within Austria the premium volume of EUR 1,234 million corresponds to a 3.4% growth. This already brings the foreign share up to 40%.
In health insurance, the preliminary premiums are, at around EUR 888 million, about 5% above the level of the previous year. In Austria, premium volume grew by 1.9 % to about EUR 707 million. In the foreign business the premiums written could be increased by 19.5% to EUR 181 million. This means that also in health insurance 20% of the premiums already come from the regions outside of Austria.
