The Management Board and the Working Group of UNIQA Versicherungen AG have agreed to the sale of the 21.6% holding in Signal Biztosito Rt. (Budapest) to the SIGNAL-IDUNA Group. The German Group already has a majority share of 64% in the Hungarian company.
There had been participation in the Hungarian insurance company since 1993, originally initiated by Austria-Collegialität (now UNIQA Personenversicherung AG).
With the implementation of the UNIQA Group's strategy of internationalisation, there has been a concentration on Group activities in the form of majority interests. Since the alternative consideration, taking over the majority share of SIGNAL Biztosito - also in view of the SIGNAL IDUNA Group's own interest and that of the Hungarian market - could no longer be pursued by UNIQA, it was decided to shed this minority interest.
Even after this withdrawal, Hungary remains a strategic target for UNIQA Possibilities of entering the market via a company belonging to the group are currently being intensively pursued.
